YAY! SIERRA FLOWER FARM’S OPEN HOUSE IS TODAY!

We’re excited to have you! I cannot believe that the photo below was less than a year ago! Today marks one year since we got the keys to our new property and home. The house was beyond rough (and there is still a ton to do!) but the field is where we went to dream. We hoped and imagined flowers growing on this patch but there was unimaginable work to be done! A field with weed corpses, a random ziplock baggie of rotting meat (gross) and tons of bunnies not to mention years of built up herbicide and no irrigation. Wow! We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate what we’ve pulled off this past year than with our amazing customers/friends/family (you!).

SOME REMINDERS

It’s all in the details…

Time: Anytime between 1pm-6pm today, 9.8.19

Where: 1896 Palomino Lane Gardnerville, NV 89410 (in the Ruhenstroth development in South Gardnerville)

Reminders:

  • We are asking for only children 12 and over. We are a working flower farm with some dangerous plants/equipments.

  • Please, no pets. Our dogs have been “fired” from the garden time and time again, plus we are off a fairly busy street.

  • Wear comfy toe closed shoes. Once again, we are an operating flower farm and a property still very much in the works. We have cleaned up as much as we can but there are still tripping and toe stubbing potentials! There are some rows that you won’t be able to walk down, too little time and too much needed trellising!

  • Wear a sunhat, sunglasses, sunscreen. The field is in full sun, though today is supposed to be cooler, it can still get pretty warm.

  • There are lots of insects, especially our various pollinator friends. If you are fearful of bees or wasps, then perhaps coming later in the afternoon would be best when they start to get sleepy. They are not aggressive and do give plenty of warning shots but they are present and the field of flowers are their home.

  • Around dusk is the best time for taking photos in the field (from 5pm-6pm)

WHAT WE HAVE IN STORE FOR YOU

Let’s have some fun!

Though this is a casual affair, we should still have some fun!

Walk the field

Bring your cameras, creativity and questions. Walk the field, get lost in the dahlia patch and come dream with us of Sierra Flower Farm’s future!

Make N Take

We will have a bouquet bar set up (and Graham or I are more than happy to cut flowers from the field of your choice as well!) where you can make your own bouquet or small arrangement. We encourage you to bring your creativity and favorite vase!

Make N Take Bouquets start at $10

Make N Take Petite Arrangements in supplied pint-size jar starts at $12

Demos

Upon request, I am more than happy to demonstrate how I make bouquets/arrangements along with harvesting techniques. I’ll talk different components, what I grow and why I grow it!

Graham will also be re-sheeting our tiny greenhouse (as long as the wind cooperates) so blast him with questions while he works! Irrigation, his OCD about row sizes- anything ground prepping and such ask away!

Light Refreshments

We will have a handful of snacks and beverages! Take a seat, have some yummy refreshments and then let’s get back to playing with flowers!

Macaela Made

We are incredibly lucky to have such talented friends! Macaela will have some prints available of her amazing dahlia paintings. The best part?! She totally used our dahlias as models!!

We are looking forward to seeing you later today!

Jessica & Graham
